Programming Policy

Programming Policy

Our professional programme contains a mix of music, theatre and quality entertainment to ensure broad appeal within the local Tunbridge Wells borough and the region.

We have a mixed model where we carefully manage the professional programme with community and commercial hires.

The programme is not funded by Arts Council England but is solely funded by Benenden School. It is divided into two seasons: Winter (September – December) Spring / Summer (January – August).

We typically programme at least six to twelve months in advance.

The professional programme takes place in our Centenary Hall (capacity 578-708) The Benenden Theatre (capacity 293) and the Studio Theatre (capacity 50-80). We focus on contemporary and classical music and theatre. We do present dance, classic texts, musical theatre, family work, outdoor, tribute bands and variety acts in our professional programme – however please note that our programme is small, which means we have to be selective with our programming choices.

We are particularly keen on receiving one nighters and offer guarantees and split fee deals.
